The MASTER CLEANSE

My sister Rebecca, being the intensely motivated person that she is, seems to always be looking for ways to improve her health. Be it emotionally, spiritually, or physically. After spending a few hours with her the other day, I decided I too was in need of a worthwhile goal! I have taken it upon myself to try to do the Master Cleanse. Rebecca is on day 8/10, and this is the second time she will have done the cleanse. She has once again inspired me!

The Master Cleanse was developed by Stanley Burroughs over 40 years ago. He was kind of a weird duck, but he has proven himself through this detox-diet.  In sum, it is a 10 day (minimum) fast of solid foods, and you just drink a lemonade mixture. The concoction is made of fresh lemons or limes, cajan pepper, and organic maple syrup. The theory behind it, is that we constantly are putting toxins into our body that are not readily usable, because of processed foods, or foods with artificial flavoring etc... as a result, the toxins are stored in places like our joints and other organs.  The Master Cleanse is primarily for two purposes: To detoxify the body (aka remove toxins and poisons from the cells and organs). Second, to eliminate the toxins before they can be reabsorbed. Each ingredient has a very specific purpose.

Lemons: enzymes break down the layers of old waste in the colon
Maple Syrup: supplies the sugar for energy (and calories) and gives you the needed minerals
Cayenne pepper: breakd up the mucus and dilated the blood vessels (accelerates the detox process)

It's not going to be easy, but after hearing and reading such positive results, I was convinced, and today is officially DAY ONE. I'll try to keep the blog updated on how it's going! My goal is to do the FULL 10 days, in order to really experience the results! This is my first cleanse, and I really love and enjoy food, so I hope I make it. If Beyonce did it, I can too! Wish me luck!

  1. Hows the cleanse going? I've always been too scared to do one.
