Patriotic fail.

I am proud to be an American. I really am. In my effort to show my patriotism for the fourth of July, it has been brought to my attention (by at least 3 people at work today) that I have failed. Miserably.
I present to you, the ^^ French flag. ^^
Now you see, my FRENCH NAILS.
Officially opting for the remover on this mess. Tonight.

never be a half heart...

Spontaneity excites me. Conjointly I will say that I am also a creature of routine. Rituals. I love getting to work and parking in the same spot by that same baby tree. I look forward to filling up my cup with hot water, and every time, stirring in a shot of hot chocolate. I love sitting down at my desk and reading the news for 10 minutes. I love washing my feet before I crawl into bed. I look forward to making my plan for the next week, every Friday afternoon.
Read this article...It's cool. --->Good and Bad Habits Boosted in Times of Stress
I am happy to report that I have recently done away with a vice of mine. I've kicked a very bad habit. About a week and a half ago, while in the presence of a very wise, wise woman, I was inspired to eliminate a vice of mine. Ever since I was given unlimited access to free Diet Coke at my job, I've become an avid DC drinker. I'm sad to say that I think I became semi-dependent on Diet Coke... I loved it, and hated that I loved it. As painful as it was to admit to my addiction, the first step I took, was doing just that.Vivint ruined me. And now I'm accusing Vivint as being the scapegoat. I'll stop.
Ever since I can remember, I've been incredibly health conscious. Diet Coke had sadly become part of my daily routine Brandon went to the dentist when we were in California and they said that soda causes the enamel on your teeth to erode. In that very moment that we were talking about how bad soda is for your teeth, it was as if all of my goals of leading a healthy lifestyle came to the forefront of my mind. I decided I was done with the DC. And I can say that it's now been 12 days since I have had any soda at all!!!! I have come to find water itself, quite delectable. It's like this whole new re-discovery of simplicity. My other guilty pleasure was salt. I got the urge to really cut back on that too... I've been doing pretty good. However, I don't believe I will ever be able to NOT stick my fingertips on the salt crystals at the bottom of a baby bag of pretzels... Sorry, but it's just not gonna happen guys.

Goodbye Diet Coke. You've been nothing but good to me...
But now, my life is much better.

On a similiar note, I have been wanting to run a FULL marathon for a while now. I've done several halfs, and just never had a serious enough motivation to actually do it. The key is signing up. A friend of mine told me she signed up for one, and it gaev me the last spurt of motivation I needed. A month ago I finally just signed up! Big CottonWood Marathon is happening September 14th, and I will be a full fledged participant! After having eliminated soda, cutting down on salt, and religiously adhering to my training schedule, I'm feeling fantastic!!! I am SO excited for the marathon, and I've really enjoyed integrating running as a new habit that is now part of my morning routine.
The marathon itself is a pretty optimal course, since the majority of it is downhill. I need to start conditioning my quads a little bit more in my training. I've been doing a lot of hill, interval training, but the more I research about downhill marathons, the more I think I need to alter my training a bit. At this point my weekly mileage is about 25 miles---and rising... Nothing feels better than being disciplined enough to cut bad habits and replace them with good behaviors.

Volvo Break In...

Last weekend I left my car in Salt Lake for the night at my brother's work, and I came back to this....
It's a shame that some people are that desperate. Luckily they didn't have anything in there to steal. I had a pack of bottled water in there and they didn't even take one. At least had they snagged a water, I could say that I gave someone water who needed it....
